after a run of cooler and overcast days suddenly a beautiful one comes along.  though rain is in the forecast for both days of the weekend, the immediacy of the moment is what matters.

I put this weeping cherry in 15 or 16 years ago.  it is a consistent source of springtime delight.

though I tend to resist categorisation, in the morning light of a perfect day any passer-by might come to certain conclusions about my political leanings.

at some point there must have been a very frustrated squirrel -- and a vision impaired cat -- around here.

give these leaves a little light and they bring forth a wealth of detail.

up out of the ground but not yet in bloom, this patch is showing some excellent potential.  we'll be back to see how they come along, you can count on that.

for the most part the Grove's magnolias are nearing the end of their run but some aren't quite ready to stop, not just yet.  in afternoon light one can't blame them.

dandelions: what folks think of this species depends greatly on who one asks.  gardeners can't stand them but kids love them.  there are even winemaking possibilities.

like them or not, there's still a tiny world of detail to be seen.

this spring has been very uneven: alternately warm enough to bring things out a bit earlier than usual and then cool enough for them to hang on longer than usual.  as a result we've had some uncommon overlaps of what's in bloom.

this daffodil looks for all the world like it's sticking around for the Circle's kite festival.  as it happens we don't have any such thing so it might be rather a long wait.
