it happened this morning.  and the porch cam caught it all.

collapse of stick pony stable  collapse of stick pony stable - after
stable collapse and aftermath

the herd of stick ponies has been stabled out on the porch again where anybody passing by can take one out for a quick trot/canter/gallop around the Circle.

this morning a marauding squirrel jumped onto one, probably looking to  harvest  steal some artificial fur to line its nest.  the log tipped over with a crash (look carefully in the left hand picture and you will see a grey blur, that's the miscreant exiting to the R).  the porch cam, which usually captures the comings and goings of cats, recorded the event.

the ponies were, of course, upset but otherwise seemed to be unharmed.

LJ doesn't provide traffic stats for journals but this page does have a link to the maploco service; they generate visitor maps from IP addresses.  it currently looks like this:

though neither they nor LJ (nor I) save logs or track any usage in detail, it does seem that over the past few days this space has experienced something of a traffic spike.  it started in the UK and spread to Canada and Australia in volumes that exceed the number of family, friends, colleagues and LJ flist in those places.

it's not at all clear who else would think of reading anything here and without logs there's no way to identify referring pages.  nor has any of this traffic elicited any comments.  about all I can figure is that it might be related to the recent post about BBC reports on the sale of Stone Cottage in Worcestershire.  either that, or something odd has been happening at LJ or over at maploco.
