not having voluntarily watched anything on TV for, well, quite a few years now I can hardly say I've been keeping up with developments in that medium. the occasional small factoid does drift into my comprehension, though, and having heard in conversation the phrase "voted off the island" I have at least some notion of its meaning.

it's good to be able to post an entry that doesn't start with [OT from cottage renovations]
the originally intended focus of this journal was cottage renovations. along the way it has become something of a photo journal, due in part to the fact that it has been several months since anything has taken place on the renovation front.
that might be changing. the Excellent Trim Carpenter has been in touch and this morning he came by for a walkthrough and needs assessment.
the current plan is to try to wrap up some of the unfinished tasks from last year's work over the next couple of weeks. the most urgent items are glazing and installation of the storm windows and getting the S wall reinsulated and closed back up. if things work out well that much can be accomplished within reasonable bounds of fiscal prudence.

a few months ago I had written about Meg's habit of jumping into the tub whenever she hears the shower running.
I'm not sure why it took so long to get around to getting an image of her doing her thing.

these tufts caught the very last of the afternoon light; within a couple of minutes they were overtaken by the shadow of the cottage in the background.
yesterday's snow gave the Town Hall's roof a makeover, changing the colour balance and accentuating its crisp polyhedral edges.
