yes, it seems I've been reading this forever.  but I've been enjoying it tremendously, and Pynchon isn't a writer one skims lightly. 

an all-day train trip worth savouring, for the reading, the scenery, the rare detour mileage, the company (greetings to librarymary).  if only the cuisine were up to the same standard ...
