a bundle of laths done up with string appeared on the back deck.  that door is only used once a week so it's not clear how long it had been there, perhaps for a day or so. 

they are cut and primed so my first thought was that they might have been left by the Excellent Trim Carpenter for the storm window or screen frames.  it turns out, however, that they are stakes for the Circle fringe tree project, cached by Dr. Horan.
