lacking the requisite grounding in faith I have never really felt myself completely entitled to put up decorations for Christmas.  but I'm not always able to resist the temptation, at least not this year, so I obtained a nice little tree from the itinerant vendors who had set up across the tracks in Hershey's parking lot.  it would be incomplete without a few sprays of the obvious natural decoration so I pulled on wellies and set off for the field.  while walking through one of the lower fields I saw evidence that the decorating committee had been at work.

paper lanterns hanging from string for high holidays were a part of my own upbringing though I don't know how many others have this as a childhood memory.

the tree brings together the natural and the artificial, the found and the intended.

thanks to Mrs. H and sykotec from whom I lifted the idea of obsolete SIMMs as a decorative element.  the colours are right and they do add quite the touch.

there was enough bittersweet left over for a couple of arrangements.
