the cat cam comes in rather handy sometimes. like this afternoon, when a quick glance from the office made it clear that some sort of work was underway. the painters have this habit of dropping in unannounced to do the odd bit of surface prep or painting, so I figured what I saw was them.
but ...
painters don't generate wood scraps
and in the last conversation with the builder we had planned to have a call a day or two from now in order to schedule this activity for next week.
so I put in a call to him.
it went like this:
me: |
"by any chance do you have a crew out on the property?" |
he: |
"uh, yes, they're pulling shingles off the right side [S] wall." |
the ensuing discussion went on to consider the next few days of activity, some details on milling the planks for the new exterior, and the possibility (gratifying even if remote) that insulating and residing the S wall might even get completed before the painters are done, such that they could turn their attention to it as well.
well, perhaps not that remote -- the same sub worked on Mimi's cottage and although his people did excellent work, it seemed to take ages for them to finish.
on returning home, once again as the daylight was running out, looking at the S wall what I found was that the crew had sealed the outside with black (ergo opaque) plastic sheeting, making it hard to make out what might be -- or not be -- behind it. with rain expected in the next 24 hrs (and the crew's return not for another 48) this is a sensible precaution. the difficulty of photographing black plastic in dusk and the low information content of any such image keeps it from decorating this entry.
