painter's punch list

suddenly this project has taken a new turn.  with the dedication coming up in a few days, now it's all about invitations, outreach to neighbours and townspeople who aren't online, menus and catering.  looks like things are reasonably well in hand.

called the builder today to see what can -- and can't -- get done before Sunday afternoon.  the painting is pretty close to finished, there are just a very few details that need some attention.  the two of them will be coming over tomorrow to inspect so I marked the problem areas with bits of masking tape.  because they had done such a good job there wasn't much with which to take excecption but I saw it as a challenge to come up with a least a few imperfections.  anything less than that would just go to their heads.

the trim carpenter is still off fishing and not expected back until next week, so there will still be the one outside trim piece atop the S wall as well as the torn-up condition of the N and S interior walls.  it was a nuisance for the builder to pull him off the job so close to the end but I don't mind going forward with the dedication while these items are still pending, partly because October is upon us and there's no sense in putting off outdoor entertaining any further, but also because this work is ongoing in nature.  the phase divisions are reasonably arbitrary and hey, even when they launch a ship it needs plenty of fitting out before it can set off on a voyage.
